Two weeks into lockdown and I suspect most of us are struggling with this current world pandemic. I know I’ve had my moments.
One thing that is helping to keep me sane ( well as sane as I ever am – just before anyone else says it!) is my daily “authorised” excursion. I appreciate that I am extremely lucky in to live in a beautiful part of the world with some stunning views on the doorstep.
The daily meander usually follows the same route…well I am a self-confessed creature of habit.
The daily meander takes me to the beach.

My soul needs to be soothed with the feeling of sand under my soles. It’s as simple as that.
I’ve been combining these walks with an almost daily photography challenge. It’s amazing what you take note of if you actually take the time to open your eyes to the world around you and look.
There have been various themes so far
Flowers
Rocks
New Growth, New Life
Sandscapes
And maybe my favourite so far …. the challenge to find something every colour of the rainbow (ok, I struggled a wee bit with blue , indigo and violet)
Still chasing rainbows and dreams….told you I was a creature of habit.
Stay safe, folks
xx

I Wonder When
When did he last hold me
And really feel me?
When did he last kiss me
And really taste me?
When did he last say “I love you”
And truly mean it?
When did he last make love to me
And relish in me?
When did he last listen to me
And even hear me?
I wonder when it was……..

Anyone that follows my blog or has read the Silver Lake series knows I love the beach.
There is nothing like the feeling of sand under your feet to soothe the soul. It’s my quiet place. My happy place. My thinking place. My sanctuary….
Even in winter….no make that especially in winter….it holds a special kind of magic.
Would you believe me if I said the photo above had been shot in January? No? Well it was – the 1st of January to be precise.
In winter the beach tends to be virtually deserted. OK, it tends to be damn cold too! It’s Scotland – it can be damn cold in summer! On several occasions I’ve timed my visits just right and managed to secure the whole beach to myself for a few precious minutes.
Selfish I know but, in those few stolen moments, it’s MY space.
Space to daydream. Space to think things through (or over think them as I have a tendency to do). Space to seek creative inspiration. Space to reminisce. Space to shed private tears. Space to breathe. Space to recharge the batteries.
Without fail, I leave every time feeling calmer and more grounded. Maybe it’s the water themed name or the Cancerian birth sign but my soul is most definitely tied to the beach.
Where’s your happy place?

With only two weeks of the year left, I found myself reflecting back over the past twelve months while I was out for my lunchtime meander earlier. There have been some incredibly highs, some real low points but there have been a lot of precious memories along the way. Guess that’s the rhythm of 21st Century life.
So, in pictures, here’s my reflections of life in 2018

Then there were the musical highlights of the year…..

And there were some extra special music related moments too….

And, of course, I added to my Book Baby family too….

So, as we prepare to celebrate Christmas and welcome in a New Year, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing love and support.
love n hugs

Sometimes you need to pause, breathe deeply and look at life from a different perspective.
