Morning daydreaming of being
In your arms for even the briefest of hugs
Daring to hope it might happen
Dread filling my heart that it won’t
Almost noon…would you be waiting?
Yes!…
Morning daydreaming of being
In your arms for even the briefest of hugs
Daring to hope it might happen
Dread filling my heart that it won’t
Almost noon…would you be waiting?
Yes!…

Understanding what makes you smile
No strings attached
Celebrating all your successes however small
Offering support without being asked
No expectations of love in return
Duration and strength in the unspoken bonds between our hearts
In this lifetime, past lifetimes, lifetimes yet to come
Trust
Implicit trust
Once in a lifetime soulmate connection
Nurture over need
Always got your back
Loyal to the death
Loving freely and deeply and quietly
Openly and honestly
Volunteered without question
Endless…
As the sun began to sink low in the sky
I looked back along the trail and…
Paused….
Marvelling at how far I had come.
In the distance I could see
The difficult days when I faltered
The marshlands where I got bogged down
And the ocean that reset my soul
With a deep sigh, I prepared to go on
I looked ahead along the trail and…
Paused…
The sun’s light was blinding me
Concealing the distance left to travel.

Gridlines set
Yellow indicator line there
Sunrise approaches
Yellow indicator lined up
Sunrise colours captured
Photos still not horizontal!
Focusing the mind’s eye
On the curvature of the horizon….

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend …or are they?
I stared at my wedding rings emotions spilling over
And felt a fraud.
Marriage died a long time ago
Our vows cast aside in favour of adultery
Never did I break mine
Decisions. Dilemmas. Dichotomy.
Rings were tearfully removed, releasing the past.
I felt naked and lost.
New ring selected with self-love in mind
Giving myself permission to “marry” my future.

In meditative repose
I lie in shavasana, corpse pose.
Breathing quietly in and out through my nose.
Did I feed the cat?
Should I put on the washing before work?
Need to remember to call the dentist.
Oh.. and I need to add milk to the Tesco list.
And so my mind whirs on…
No quiet thoughts to be found
I focus on my breathing…in and out…
Seeking the stillness of the pose.
Need to remember to post that birthday card.
And I’ve to call the garage about the car.
Wonder what time my first meeting is today?
And so my mind whirs on
In meditative repose.

Arrivals and departures
Irresistible lure of the newsstand
Realisation that the trip is over
Praying that the flight is on time
Only worry is “will the suitcase survive?”
Really should have packed less
Trips are fun

Jotting down thoughts
One thought at a time
Using the words as therapy
Relating the tale helps
Nothing to hide
Always honest
Love how the words reveal the truths the eyes don’t see

Each wave soothes my hurt
Each wave that caresses my feet soothes my soul
Each grain of sand between my toes helps to fill the cracks in my heart
The sun’s rays bring new warmth back into my heart
The solitude of the ocean allows my broken body and soul peace and time to heal
Each wave crashing in on the shore pulls away the layers of pain and hurt and anger.
Each wave restores me just that little bit more.
The enormity of the ocean teaches me that there’s a vast world out there on the horizon
The pull of the waves against my legs reminds me that I am strong
The beach, the ocean…they are teaching me that it’s OK to feel alive and happy again

Another sleepless night
Nausea sweeping through me
Xanax sitting untouched on the nightstand
I will beat this
Every movement’s an effort
Teeth even ache in my jaws
Yesterday still torturing my mind
If you can relate to this short poem, please don’t suffer in silence. There are numerous resources out there to support. I’ll list a few below.
Everyone has mental health, the same way, everyone has physical health and like your physical health, sometimes its in better shape than others. It’s ok not to be ok.
