Taking a moment to appreciate Spring’s beauty in all it’s colours (well some of them)

The dark days of winter are behind us (the temperatures are still lingering though) and the world is starting to look like a brighter place.

I’ve said many times on here that I’m a creature of habit and, much as I love going for a walk at the end of a busy day to clear the “work stuff” from my head to make room for the “creative stuff”, I do tend to walk the same routes. However, as Spring moves towards Summer, these familiar routes are forever changing.

How?

The flowers are all starting to bloom and their colours make it a rainbow road instead of a grey one. Don’t believe me? Here, take a look for yourself..

Let’s make a wish that, when it arrives, Summer is a long hot colourful one.

Tangled Emotions

Yesterday while I was out walking, I was reflecting on a few things…. ok I was over thinking and was rapidly becoming over-emotional. I run on emotions. We all do. We’re human beings not robots.

Emotions are natural. They’re part of what makes us “us”.

But what are they?

According to Wikipedia :-

Emotions are biological states associated with all of the nerve systems brought on by neurophysiological changes variously associated with thoughts, feelings, behavioural responses, and a degree of pleasure or displeasure. There is currently no scientific consensus on a definition. Emotions are often intertwined with mood, temperament, personality, disposition, creativity, and motivation.

Leaving neurophysiological changes aside, I felt like my own emotions weren’t so much intertwined but were more like a tangled mess!

At that point, the trees to my left caught my attention.

That was it!

That was how my emotions felt!

All tangled and twisted and knotted and just like the vines growing up and around the tree’s trunk. So, here’s my photographic interpretation of tangled emotions.

Chasing Rainbows…..

Sometimes you have to just stop thinking, stop stressing and just chase those rainbows…..like everything else in life, they don’t last forever

Under cover of darkness

For the first time in over eight months, I found myself out for the evening in Glasgow last night, thanks to a kind invitation from my Baby Girl. Normally I wouldn’t think twice about something like that but the delights of 2020 make you just that little bit wary.

It was also the opportunity to take some photos…. well, I’m never one to miss that, am I?

So what was the attraction that was lurking in the dark waiting to be explored? It was GlasGLOW, the annual Hallowe’en Light Show spectacular at the city’s Botanic Gardens.

This was the third year of the event and COVID has obviously had its impact on the extent of the display however the organisers had done a sterling job to create a magical experience.

I’ll admit it did seem a little odd to be walking through the Botanic Gardens in the pitch black. It also felt odd being among people! Everything was strictly socially distanced and masks were worn but that was the largest number of people I have seen in months. It was somewhat comforting.

And the GlasGLOW experience….well judge for yourself.

For that brief hour, it was nice to enjoy an experience that passed for normality. There’s been precious little of that this year.

Six months on…..

Six months ago today the British Prime Minister put the country into a state of Lockdown due to COVID 19……

I could go on a rant about the affect that has had on life, the adverse impact it’s had on friendships, the detrimental affects on wellbeing etc etc but I won’t.

What’s the point? It doesn’t change where we are.

Throughout those ten initial long weeks of isolation Boy Child and I regularly walked to the nearby beach at Lunderston Bay during our hour of authorised exercise time.

It’s a path we’ve travelled many many times over the past six months.

Late this afternoon we walked there again.

I wonder how many more times we’ll take that walk before the world returns to being a safer place?

Photographic Memory…..

It’s no secret, I love taking photos. My phone has thousands upon thousands on it and I do actually browse through them on a regular basis.

They are a quick easy way of stepping back in time to precious moments.

They are the photographic memory of that split second in time or that trip that you took or the person you met.

They are a quick route to a happy place.

You get where I’m going with this.

I’ll no doubt get a bit of stick for this but the Nickelback song Photograph always makes me smile. Not so much in respect of the images that Chad Kroeger is singing about but about the images I recall with the same level of fondness.

Don’t know the song? OK here’s the link to it :

So what photos make my short list?

Actually, it could be a very long list so I’ll limit it to 5…whew I hear you sigh!
