Trust (an acrostic poem)

Trust should be cherished, never taken for granted.

Respect has to be earned then sustained.

Use your judgement wisely- once gone, they’re gone forever.

Spend a few extra moments in contemplation….

Think about the cost of blowing apart either or both…

Toadstools – an acrostic poem

Treading carefully among the trees, I search

October brings fairytales alive – if you take the time to look

Autumn leaves nestle round them, keeping them safe

Delicate gills on display

Spores drifting invisibly down to populate the soil

Tomorrow’s tales or next year’s? Time will tell.

Old haunts from previous years reveal this year’s crop

Old memories haunt the hunt

Lost in my daydreams

Searching for that fairytale ending

Berries – an acrostic poem

Blood red you hang in the sun

Enchantingly autumnal in colour

Reminding me that summer has passed

Reminding me that seasons change

Indicators of cooler days and darker nights

Emotionally I’m not ready for those…not yet

Selfishly I want to hold onto the warmth and the light a little longer

September – an acrostic poem

Summer’s end in sight

Ever hopeful of some late sunshine

Preparing for a colourful autumn

Trees changing colour before your eyes

Early sunsets create fiery skies

Memories of long light nights fading

Beginning to dread winter’s dark chill

Emotions in turmoil as the seasons change

Remembering…always remembering…

Woman – an acrostic poem for International Women’s Day

Who am I?

Or who do you think I am?

Meandering through life

Achieving quiet recognition as I go

Now comfortable in my own skin.

Snowdrops – an acrostic poem

Silently meandering

No one watching or listening

Only the sounds of nature for company

Wondering what is to come…

Daydreaming of long light summer nights

Reflecting on the dark days of winter

Open to new possibilities

Praying for better days as I

Silently meander.

Meandering (an acrostic poem)

Mentally recharging the batteries

Emotionally clearing the clouds

And releasing all the pain

No set destination or direction

Drawn by the lure of the shore

Enchanted by the energy of the river

Rhythmic waves soothing the soul

Isolated from the wider world

Nothing and no one to disturb the daydreams

Grateful to have made it through another day.

Butterfly – an acrostic poem

Balanced on the smallest of blooms

Unique in her beauty

Trusting of the world around her

Terrified of what the future holds

Excited to feel free in the evening sun

Relieved that the rain showers have passed

Fragile to those to care to look closely

Lost on life’s journey

Yearning for something as yet unknown

Pinecones – an acrostic poem

Last week I shared the above photo as part of my photoblog and commented that it would make a good story prompt. It triggered a few creative thoughts but it was a dark poetic thought that fought its way to the surface.

PINECONES

Promising peace and privacy.

Insulation from the world outside.

No pain could reach through the low hanging branches.

Echoes of the past flooding her mind.

Crawling inside to lie curled on a bed of pine needles.

One single tear slid soundlessly down her cheek.

No one would find her hiding in here.

Escape from her grief filled world.

Sanctuary to process her thoughts.

Autumn – an acrostic poem

Autumn colours swathe the world

Uncertain times still upon us

Time for resilience

Unknowns…so many unknowns lie ahead

More than I care to contemplate

Now to watch and wait to see what Autumn brings
